Precision Grinding and Honing for Fire and Rescue Equipment
Rescue equipment sits in a compartment for months and then has to work on the first pull, at full pressure, in the worst conditions anyone on that scene will see all year. Nothing about that duty cycle is forgiving. A marginal bore finish that would go unnoticed in a machine running every day becomes a seal that has taken a set and a tool that will not build pressure when somebody needs it to.
Grinding for Fire and Rescue Equipment
Parts We Grind for This Market
- Hydraulic ram rods and cylinder bores
- Pump shafts and valve components
- Locking and pivot pins
- Spreader and cutter arm hardware
Why Our Equipment Fits
High-pressure hydraulics need bore finish and rod straightness together, and most shops are set up to do one or the other well. We hone bores from 0.087 to 2.0 inch to 0.0002 inch and 8 Ra, and grind rods to 60 inches between centers at 0.0002 inch on diameter. Roundness under 0.0001 inch on centerless work is what keeps a seal alive through a duty cycle it only sees a handful of times a year.
Materials
Hardened steel, chrome-plated rod, 17-4 PH and 300 series stainless, and titanium where weight on the tool matters to the person carrying it up three flights. Nickel alloys including Inconel and Monel for components exposed to heat or corrosive environments.
